Every Street

I headed into the city feeling uncertain.

I go there with my camera a lot.

That means, I’ve photographed all the main areas many times.

I’m conscious of that. So, I wanted to avoid shooting pictures I’ve already done.

I always walk into the city centre. It lets me think about where I’m going to go.

That meant on today’s walk, I was mulling over how to avoid shooting the same scenes.

My initial thoughts circled around turning up and seeing what was happening.

There are times when you shoot based on what people are doing.

But, it also struck me that there are still streets I hadn’t ventured down before.

And as I walked, that became more of a definite plan.

If I passed a side road, I was going up it.

I’m fortunate enough to live in a city where there are old, medieval streets.

But there are a spread of newer developments, too.

Both of those provide loads of side roads and back streets for me to investigate.

And that’s what I did today.

It resulted in me shooting over 100 new photos.

They are not all keepers.

But, I’ve already noticed there are places I went to today that I’ll revisit.

Most new street finds need a couple of goes to capture all that is available.

Anyway…

The point is, I needn’t have worried. By seeking out new streets, I managed to add new photos to my collection.
